Sheba Medical Center, widely recognized as a global leader in medical innovation, is considered one of the largest healthcare centers in the Western world. It has consistently ranked among the top ten medical centers globally for several years. Kanarit was proud to lead the overall strategy alongside Sheba’s C-level staff, shaping the future of healthcare innovation.
Sheba Medical Center is a city of health, with 159 medical departments and clinics, 75 laboratories, and 1,600,000 visits per year. It is the largest employer in the civil service in Israel.
A Visionary Approach to Smart Healthcare
To effectively manage the scale of transformation, Sheba’s innovation strategy was structured into 16 distinct verticals, each focusing on a different aspect of technological and operational improvement. Kanarit’s primary vision was centered on enhancing Patient Experience, ensuring that every roadmap and implementation prioritized patient-centric care.
Expanding Beyond a Smart City: A Regional Approach
Kanarit redefined the project’s scope beyond a smart hospital, approaching Sheba as a smart region. This required collaboration with four municipalities, two highway operators, and multiple stakeholders who had a geographical or logistical connection to the health center. The total project budget reached approximately 2 billion shekels ($525 million), reflecting the scale and ambition of the initiative.

By improving mobility to and inside Sheba, reducing transit and avoiding the need to build a parking building – Parking spaces went down from 7200 in 2021 to 6900 in 2023, with increasing traffic.
